Trip: The Nook and Cranny Writing Retreat in Carman, MB

What’s Included:

  • Three nights at the charming and historic Bell Aura Bed, Breakfast & Bistro
  • Seven delicious meals as indicated on the itinerary!
  • Complimentary coffee/tea
  • Daily writing workshops
  • Two excursions to local facilities (thrift store and art gallery)
  • An evening reading and open mic
  • A special goodie bag

What’s Not-Included

  • Transportation to the venue
  • Any tips for B&B cleaning staff
  • Alcoholic beverages, non-included drinks/snacks, souvenir shopping and laundry services
  • Also not included are: items of a personal nature such as, gifts, medical costs,  additional expenses arising from the delay or extension of a trip due to weather, sickness, failure of transportation, or other causes beyond our control.
  • Ticket/entrance fees for optional excursions
  • Other non-included items would be: any other activities, meals, and tours not included in our package.


A deposit of $200.00 CDN with your trip registration form is needed to hold your spot. Final payment is due 60 days before the retreat (August 29), upon receipt of your final invoice. All payments can be made through the Square link or by e-transfer to lauren@laurencarter.ca or cheque made out to Lauren Carter and mailed to: 14 Capri Road, St Andrews, MB R1A 2Z5 

Cancellation and Refunds

If cancellation occurs 90 or more days before departure your deposit or full trip payment will be returned. Any cancellation made between 60-90 days will result in the loss of your $200 CDN deposit. Any cancellation received in writing from 30-60 days before the retreat will result in a loss of 50% of the trip price. Any cancellation between 30 days and the retreat start date will result in a total loss of funds. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if it does not meet the trip minimum (if we do so, your fees will be refunded).

All cancellations and/or any refund requests must be made in writing to lauren@wildgroundwriting.com before October 27. Our email address is: lauren@wildgroundwirting.com. Keep in mind that once your payment becomes non-refundable as delineated in our cancellation policy above, there will be NO refunds, as we must pay the fees accumulated.

Lauren Carter/Wild Ground Writing reserves the right to cancel any trip prior to departure for any reason whatsoever, including an insufficient number of participants or logistical problems (e.g. acts of God, war, strikes, etc.), which may impede trip operations.  The refund of all payments as described in the paragraph below shall release (Lauren Carter/Wild Ground Writing from any further liability.  A trip cancellation due to insufficient numbers would normally occur at least a month prior to departure, unless acts of God, war, strikes or other events impede our departure causing large numbers of participants to cancel participation in the last days before the retreat.
